I have to buy a lamp

That is an old joke between me and my sister. Right before I go on a trip, there is always something totally unrelated and completely arbitrary that I have to do before I go. One time, we spent an entire evening before a flight looking for a lamp for my apartment.

Yes. I am a freak. Tomorrow morning, we leave for a week long family vacation. What am I doing today? Canning.

I just made a beautiful batch of peach blackberry jam and am currently processing seven pints of bread and butter pickles.

Freak show.

Let's detail the things I should be doing, shall we?

laundry

finding someone to feed the cat while we're gone

packing

um, showering, perhaps

returning library books

et-cet-era...

Okay, but just look at those gorgeous jars...all I can think about now is label design.

Which will cause me to forget something critical in trip prep. I.have.not.even.started.to.pack.

Freak.

Incidentally, making pickles is kind of a b-scratch. AND I have to wait SIX WEEKS while they cure to find out if it went okay. Let's just say I had some issues and leave it at that.
