Personal Quotes

Every now and then, my mind turns to the idea that I should have a personal quote.  One that sums me up or at least gives an insight to me.  There are a couple I've been considering.  One is this:

"The true measure of a society is how it treats its weakest members".  There are many variations of it ascribed to Ghandi, Samuel Johnson, and Winston Churchill, to name a few.  I think this is the winner; it's the one I come back to again and again. Another one I like a lot is:

"Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." -Voltaire

I also looked up a list of Winston Churchill quotes and he has several that I like a LOT.  I've now decided that if I could have dinner with any person living or dead, it would be Churchill.  Here's a sampling of his genius:

"Once in a while you will stumble upon the truth but most of us manage to pick ourselves up and hurry along as if nothing had happened."

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."

"You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life."

"Those who can win a war well can rarely make a good peace and those who could make a good peace would never have won the war."
